Steamboat Springs — Although this weekend will be full of movement in all forms with the Steamboat Movement Fest, there is still so much going on outside the festival. Take a new dance class, go on a YVSC’s 5th annual Green Garden’s Tour de Coop or take a cooking class. Whatever you do, get out and explore all Steamboat has to offer.
Steamboat Dance Theatre’s National Dance Day classes
This Saturday is National Dance Day, and in celebration of the day — which will include classes, flash mobs and a national dance routine— the local dance community is offering free classes. At 8:30 a.m. Friday, “Dance to the core” will be taught by Denise at Sundance Studio (385 Anglers Drive, Suite D). Later in the afternoon, Don and Amanda will teach a swing class at 7 p.m. at Elevation Dance Studio (326 Oak St.). The big event on Saturday will involve a National Dance Day Choreography routine, taught by Rachel in Gondola Square at 10:30 a.m. Each of the classes are free for all ages.

2015 YVSC Green Gardens Tour
Tour de Coop will tour four downtown homes’ innovative chicken coops
Tour begins at Soda Creek. Bring your bikes and/or good walking shoes, and come tour four downtown homes in the Park Avenue area to see their inspiring chicken coops and gardens and learn from your neighbors. Speakers from the Routt County Extension Office and the City of Steamboat Springs will discuss local regulations, requirements, care and protection of chickens.
