— For residents and visitors alike, there is always a new workshop to try or a new band to check out. Not only that, an abundance of outdoor activities await discovery this weekend when the sun is shining. So get out of the normal routine, and explore something new.

Mountain Music Series: Earphunk

The Mountain Music Series will feature the New Orleans progressive funk band, Earphunk. The group has had appearances at the Electric Forest Festival and the Wakarusa Music Festival among others. Known for their live shows, Earphunk has that heavy-pocket funk sound balanced by their progressive guitar explosions.

Hayden Daze Parade

Take a break and join the staff of Yampa River State Park for a day in Hayden with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. After the parade, all are welcome to have “Routt beer floats” at the Hayden Heritage Center Museum and to view the vintage cars on display.

School Days

The Tread of Pioneers Museum will host this tour of the historic Mesa Schoolhouse. Participants will experience student and teacher life at the turn-of-the-century. Learn about historic toys and recess games, Routt County school history and more. Children can play with replica historic toys. The tour will offer fun for the whole family. Sponsored by the Tread of Pioneers Museum, Historic Routt County and the City of Steamboat Springs.

Butcherknife Brewing Company’s One Year Anniversary Party

Celebrate one year of Butcherknife on Saturday with live music from Badunkafunk, pork provided by Yampa Valley Farms and prepared by Moe’s Original Bar-B-Que. Steamboat’s new photo booth will also be at the party. The event will include lawn games, free food, music, beer and a beautiful day on the calendar. Celebrate with Northwest Colorado’s production brewery.

Roxy Roca — Schmiggity’s, 10 p.m. 

Said to be one of the best soul and funk bands of the summer, Rocky Roca will be in Steamboat Springs from Austin, Texas. The seven-piece soul band is touring the country in support of their new album “Ain’t Nothin’ Fancy,” released in February. Soundcheck Magazine said in a review that “”Roxy Roca nailed their performance with a funky, sensual Southern soul all-out dance jam. You couldn’t help but move your body when the lead singer has moves like James Brown and a voice to match.”
