Bill loves Steamboat & the newspaper
December 21, 2012
Now that the storms have passed and the sun has come out, Bill finally has time to rest his achy legs and reflect upon winter's return to the Yampa Valley. For Bill, that means relaxing at Mountain Brew with a cup of coffee and a copy of the Steamboat Today (and maybe a cupcake or two).
After the last several days of deep powder and stormy weather, Bill has a lot of catching up to do. For instance, he didn't even know that the Steamboat Pilot will be changing the Sunday paper format starting Jan. 6. More importantly, it's the weekend before Christmas and he hasn't gotten a gift for Ophelia yet.
He browses through the ads, looking for a good deal on a present. He notices that White Pepper has 20% off jewelry and that Ace has discounts on just about everything. He could get her new Nordic skis at Ski Haus on Friday, or maybe new sunglasses from Steamboat Flyfisher. Ophelia just has too many hobbies to decide.
Maybe dinner and a show would be the best idea. So he looks through the Happenings page to see who is in town this weekend. He could take her to Bistro C.V. for dinner then to Michael Kaeshammer at the Strings Pavilion on Friday. Or possibly dinner at Truffle Pig and local favorites Missed the Boat on the mountain at the Tugboat would be best. All great ideas, but just not good enough for Ophelia.
Bill reads the paper front to back twice, but just can't decide on a gift. That is until he went back to the Happenings page. There it was, the perfect gift for the girl who has it all.

Nothing would be better for a local girl like Ophelia. It was made in the Yampa Valley, his effort will show how much he cares, and she can use the Chamber bucks he wins almost anywhere in town. After reading the clue from the Tread of Pioneers Museum, Bill puts on his jacket and sets out into the cold to find the coveted piece of Steamboat tradition.
