Another ski film to hit Steamboat

— Should skiers and snowboarders need one last dose of motivation, Norway-based Field Productions will provide one last ski movie.

The “Supervention” documentary will play at 7 p.m. Friday at the Ghost Ranch.

“There is certainly high quality videography,” said Todd Johnson, who is bringing the movie to town. “It’s in great locations in Alaska and Norway.”

The show will begin with the move “Jalpak Tash: A Kyrgyzstan Epic” with “Supervention” to follow.

Hip-hop, funk and Afro-beat band Salem will play after the movie.

Cost for the movie and the live entertainment is $10.

“Supervention” has drawn critical acclaim. The two-year project made the list of Outside magazine’s Best Adventure Films of 2013.

“It’s a skier and snowboard documentary,” Johnson said. “It gives you some cool perspectives from the skiers and snowboarders themselves. It kind of personalizes the athlete a bit.’

Johnson has been traveling across the United States and Canada through the season showing the film.

In addition to the film and show, there will be drawings held throughout the night for a variety of prizes.

And if people don’t have that winter bug yet, the film will help, Johnson said.

“I’m excited to be showing this throughout the season,” he said.
