Strings in the Mountains free community concert featuring the Denver Young Artists Orchestra and the Steamboat Youth Clarinet Ensemble
When: 3:30 p.m. Youth Clarinet Ensemble; 4 p.m. Denver Young Artists Orchestra
Where: Music Festival Park
Cost: Free
Why you should go: Because you can bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy a sunny afternoon celebrating the beginning of Strings’ summer festival season.
Monday
World Environment Day/Green Campaign
When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Alpine Bank, 1901 Pine Grove Rd.
Cost: Free
Why you should go: If you go to Alpine Bank on Monday wearing something green, you will get a green gift. The bank also will feature the work of three local artists who use recycled materials. Plus, grab some water packaged in bottles made from renewable sources that will disintegrate over time.
Thursday
What: Historic walking tour of South Routt
When: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Tour starts at the small park on the corner of First and Main streets in Yampa
Cost: Free
Why you should go: To hear the stories of the pioneers who helped shape our valley.
