The gym at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig glowed Saturday evening with the twinkling of blue and white Christmas lights, strung overhead from wall to wall and from corner to corner.

The annual Cowboy Christmas fundraiser drew a healthy crowd, as people packed in around tables for drinks, a buffet-style meal, an awards presentations, a silent auction, a live auction, Texas hold ’em poker, music by the 13/40 Band and dancing.

The club presented annual awards for man and woman of the year, business of the year, volunteer of the year and youth of the year. Winners were: man and woman – Randy and Cindy Looper; business – Craig Daily Press; volunteer – Kandee Dilldine; and youth – Alejandra Ledesma.

During the live auction, tickets for golf, autographed Broncos memorabilia, a quilt made by B&G Club members, a refrigerator, a hay ride and chili supper for 12, a llama pack trip and three visits from Santa were auctioned off.

But the final bid wasn’t always final. On a few of the items, once the winner had been decided, the item was quickly re-donated to the club and auctioned off again.

After all, the auctioneer kept reminding the bidders, it was only money, and it was all for the children.
