Moose on the loose: The Record for Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019

7:44 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called about a cow and calf moose approaching traffic at Hilltop Parkway and South Lincoln Avenue.

10:17 a.m. A landlord for a residence in the 700 block of Oak Street called officers to report a missing person. The landlord had not seen the tenant of the residence in a long time and was worried about him. The landlord eventually spoke with the girlfriend of the tenant, who said the tenant was not missing.



12:58 p.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called about a head injury in the 2500 block of Copper Frontage.

1:24 p.m. Officers were called about several vehicles parked along the 10 block of Lincoln Avenue that blocked a lane of traffic.



2:31 p.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called about an altercation between two men at Steamboat Resort.

4:26 p.m. A man called officers to report that a purse had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle in the 2100 block of Elk River Road.

4:57 p.m. Officers were called about a laptop that had been stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of Anglers Drive.

5:57 p.m. Officers were called about a disturbance outside a grocery store in the 1800 block of Central Park Drive. A person returned to their vehicle to find that another car had blocked them in. When the other driver arrived, the two people got into an argument.

8:45 p.m. Officers were called about a suspicious person whom the caller believed was trying to break into an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Block Bridge Lane. It turned out to be a tenant who had locked himself out.

Total incidents: 46

  • Steamboat officers had 26 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Routt County deputies had 10 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters responded to six calls for service.
  • West Routt Fire Protection District firefighters responded to three calls for service.
  • North Routt Fire Protection District firefighters responded to one call for service.
