STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Amethyst Drive will be closed for most of the day between Fish Creek Falls Road and Maple Street after a water main break in the area, according to a news release from the city of Steamboat Springs.

Water will be shut off for most of the day at the Steamboat Pointe neighborhood and a portion of Willett Heights along Amethyst while the break is repaired.

Drivers heading to Strawberry Park Elementary School and Steamboat Springs Middle School should plan alternative routes and follow detour signs.

School buses that drop students off along Amethyst in the afternoon will not be affected by the closures, according to the release. Other buses will detour around the closures.

City crews will be working to repair the water main break. The work is expected to last most of the day, with Amethyst closed to through traffic during the repairs.
