Stealing from Craig

As some of you know, we are sister newspapers owned by WorldWest LLC, which is based in Lawrence, Kan. The Craig Daily Press site is modeled in part after the Lawrence Journal-World site.

Why am I explaining all of this? Because we are thinking of incorporating elements of Craig's design and Lawrence's design into steamboatpilot.com. In particular, I like the way the topics are grouped on the Home pages and the use of the cropped, horizontal photos.

It has not even been a year since we re-designed our Web site and we already are considering another re-design, utilizing elements from Craig and Lawrence. Before we do that, I would love to hear from you folks - the Web site users - on what you like and don't like about our current design and your thoughts on the Craig and Lawrence sites' design.

Help me out with a little feedback...

Being a reader of both papers I have to admit I like your Pilot layout better, it is not as repeatative and the forum is user friendly. If you look on the main page of the Craig Daily Press online edition you will see that a story's link is repeated multiple times, just in different places. In the reader forum, there is nowhere to add your comment, you have to start a completely new discussion and that is adding to the clutter. Stick with what you have, it is much easier to use/look at. If you want to adopt the cropped photos that would be ok but as far as general format.....no.
