One local Starbucks at risk from national closures

Ohh no! I just may have to walk my fat ass 200ft to the Starbucks inside Safeway within the same parking lot. I need to campaign to save Starbucks unless Safeway installs a drive through...I can't take it anymore! The town will cry, I won't. I do feel bad for anyone loosing a job if they close.

Wall found guilty of DWAI

Mackey already went to trial and payed his dues. The real issue is about Wall, not Mark. It sounds like there are a few bitter people who got a DUI or ticket from him. If you feel he did you an injustice you should have spoken up when you had a chance. Justice was served to Mark and Gary.....it's a small town and we all hear the same things....Mark paid the price with his job at SSPD and we'll see what's in store for Gary. Lance is a great guy and kudo's to him for his actions, but can you blame Mark for trying to stay neutral. He did what almost everyone on this blog would have done if in the same situation. Nobody is perfect nor is the judicial system but it's what we have to work with. Let me also detract from the "nice way to log on Mackey" comments because in truth neither one of these guys is my personal favorite....but its who we have for now. Have a nice day :)

City resolving sign code issue

I hope they follow through with this issue and enforce the sign code. Often times they are free advertising left up long after the property has sold. They hope to show potential buyers other properties while leaving up as many signs around town as possible. One of the oldest tricks in the book. "I know the property you are interested in has been spoken for, but let me show you one for double the price"....it must work on occasion or they wouldn't use this strategy.

Marabou's first home under way

What makes them any different than anyone else? I hope I can serve them some food and get a $400 tip on a burger. Town is what it is.

Steamboat Fire Dept.

Has anyone been informed of the many firefighters inappropriatly displaced by Chief Struble. I understand there is current litigation from a Craig man who worked part time for the SFFD who was fired for no reason. They offered his position back but he wants a cash settlement as well. There has been hostile work enviroment claims filed against fire administration... is JD Hayes and the city sweeping this under the carpet too? What were the results of the investigation? It is obvious JD Hays and Bob Struble are more intrested in protecting their pensions than the citizens of our community. Bob Struble has fired and forced out nearly his entire volunteer/part-time workforce. His full time staff felt compelled enough to form a union for their own protection. What is to gain for the general public other than higher operating costs, decreased level of service, delayed response time and fewer responders? The teflon will wear off these guys if the city council would ask them the tough questions. Bob and JD are in damage control mode telling everyone there departments are performing well....when is the truth in its entirety going to rise to the surface?
