On Would attracting big box retail stores be good for Steamboat Springs residents? (anonymous)

For residents, yes… there's no question that you either buy at Walmart, or you spend 3x as much at one of the boutiques… for anything. Even Ace Hardware is more expensive. As for clothing, forget about it! I have wished for a Super Target in Steamboat for years now. There's no question it would affect the small retailers in the area, but so does online shopping at this point. There are no options for people that don't have a bottomless bank account.

Good question! I have always suspected internet shopping has found a comfortable home in Steamboat, and this confirms it!

Please remember this also means your delivery drivers (UPS, Fed Ex, DHL, and of course the Post Office) have to work extra hard during the holiday season - I saw UPS trucks out yesterday, on a Sunday! Please show them your appreciation.

The decal should also say something about the penalty if caught buying alcohol for minors.

It also said community members were there, I saw the “private” description as well. Per the editor, it was posted in the printed edition.

Steamboat Pilot:

I WISH you had published WHEN this memorial service was going to occur. I have been checking online every day since this tragedy happened, and there appeared to be nothing. It saddens me further that I was not able to be there to share in the grief and offer my hope and condolences to Brianna's family.

I had cause to spend a lot of time at Walton Ponds Apartments this summer, staying with a friend that lived in the same building as Brianna. I remember meeting her when she was outside with her father, and what a beautiful child she was, what an amazing light she had in her eyes. There was something truely angelic about her. The love between her and her father was as clear as any I have ever seen, and I wish him peace and hope in this difficult time.

Nice to know they cited the driver… I'm sure losing his wife at his own hand wasn't bad enough.
