The SP&T really teed this one up well: "Man who shot bear receives no jail time" Instant public outrage: He need s to take responsiblity! He needs to be held accountable!
He confessed to the Pilot & Today. He cooperated fully with the DOW. He pled guilty in court. Isn't that "taking responsibility?" What more responsibility could he have taken? He was sentenced by the court. Isn't that "being held accountable?"
He did it. He admitted it. He pled guilty. He was sentenced. What more do you want?
H: The tunnel is not flooded. Routine hearings (like initial advisements) are done by video to minimize RCSO man-hours. For more involved court proceedings, Inmates are brought from the jail to the courthouse vial the dry tunnel, dedicated elevator and holding area with no public contact. In the old days, these Eagle Scouts were driven to the courthouse in a van, used the public elevator and walked right past the witnesses against them in the courthouse hallway. See any red flags?
Palin is a great analogy: Aigner is to the CAYV what Sarah Palin is to the GOP: Embarassing and counterproductive. They should both stop talking and fade away for the good of their respective teams. If they don't, they should be off the team.
CAYV: Prof. Emeritus Aigner is a tar baby who is singlehandedly bringing you down. You can't control what he will say at his next lecture, but you can control whether he is still your mouthpiece. Take a bold stand and "no-growth" him.
All criminal cases start in County Court (Judge Garrecht). The misdemeanor cases stay there, tried to a jury of six. The felony cases are eventually 'bound over' to District Court (Judge O'Hara or Judge Hill) and tried to a jury of twelve. One of the brothers is charged with 3rd degree assault, a misdemeanor. The other is charged with 2nd degree assault, a felony. Unlikely that the cases can be combined under these circumstances. Potential for a conflict of interest with one lawyer representing both defendants.
T: You don't get your mugshot for committing a crime, you get it for being ACCUSED of committing a crime. In the country I come from, you are innocent until proven guilty. I am not familiar with the strange ways of your country, whatever it is. Please enlighten me.
Ms Avery's letter is like a car dealer trying to ban this week's fake "sale-a bration" in the newspaper. So if I want to sell my house, I'll have to go through a realtor who knows the "other ways". I think I'll just paint "FOR SALE---CHEAP!" on the side of my house. My creative approach is a perfect example of the "appeal of our wonderful community".
"The cops would probably have no reason to be suspicious of medical marijuana users if they weren't getting tips from people who have been stopped and found to be in possession of stuff obtained from so-called "licensees.""
In which case has a busted person/probationer claimed to have gotten the MJ from a licensee? None that you can cite, right? Your theory is just as valid as the invented facts on which it relies. You claim that marijuana makes you "just a LITTLE bit stupid". What dangerous substance accounts for YOUR rants?
Aich: Just admit that you were wrong and move on! Your posts make it obvious that you haven't thought anything through and you are caught every time. Instead of making half-baked proclamations, think it through and then decide what you want above your name. We will all respect that, but your constant shots from the hip are missing the mark by a long shot.
I couldn't have made my point better than you. Alcohol turf wars only occur where it is illegal (dry counties). Is there really a market for cheap illegal moonshine anywhere other than the dry counties? Is that what the teenagers of Steamboat are buying? If gangs could make a profit selling alcohol and tobacco they would be doing it right now. Tax it, regulate it, and it will become just like tobacco and alcohol--available in stores with a gov't stamp. Making it legal will drive the price down by increasing supply (crops in open fields not basements) and reducing the cost of production and delivery (no smuggling, guns, payoffs, etc.). The gangs can't make a profit under those circumstances any more than they can by selling cheap moonshine. You are a slave to the narrow minded assumption that the legalization argument is advocating use. Do the pro-choice people think that everyone should have an abortion? Do free speech? advocates think everyone should yell profanities? Do freedom of religion advocates think everyone should be Hare Krishnas?
