once again, CONservatives will state a lie until most people believe it. bringing up neville chamberlain and appeasement and equating it to talking to our enemies is a LIE.
appeasement was giving up part of czechoslovakia, not talking to hitler. but the soundbite sounds much better than the truth. a debate on talking to our enemies is one thing, but refering it to appeasement is a lie, not debate.
thanks for the joke about fox news though… trying to be fair and balanced… lol
since you won't substantiate your allegations.. does that mean that the pilot shouldn't print your comedy column?

we import approx 10% of our oil from arab nations
http://middleeast.about.com/od/oilenergy…
we certainly can have a debate about becoming more energy independent, but let's stop pretending that we are slaves to arab nations, even though it's a great soundbite.
more drilling permits have been issued under the bush administration for public land, and yet oil companies are drilling on these permits less than the years prior to the bush administration.
a serious push for conservation and getting rid of the enron loophole would have as much or more impact on gas prices than opening offshore areas and anwr to drilling.

“we estimated that a 35-g day(-1) increase in consumption of dairy protein was associated with an increase in the risk of prostate cancer of 32%”
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18382…
“conclusion: In this large prospective cohort with a wide range of fat intake, dietary fat intake was directly associated with the risk of postmenopausal invasive breast cancer.”

“It is estimated that there is a 30 to 50% reduction in risk for developing colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer by either increasing vitamin D intake to least 1000 IU/d vitamin D or increasing sun exposure to raise blood levels of 25(OH)D >30 ng/ml”

“We conclude that dietary fat reduction delays transition from mPIN to invasive cancer in this Myc-driven transgenic mouse model, possibly through suppression of the IGF-Akt pathway and decreased proliferation of mPIN epithelial cells.”

while there is a lot of talk of chemicals in water bottles, sunscreen, etc it is ignoring one of the primary causes of disease in our country…. the western diet. worrying about the small stuff while ignoring the huge elephant in the room seems silly to me.
of course, modern medicine is more concerned with trying to cure than prevent disease.

justathought, i understand why you choose to put me in the democratic party column…. and yet in the elections i have had choices in, it's been clinton, dole, bush(i truly am sorry), kerry. i do post a lot on these “CONservative” commentaries because they stray so far from conservative ideals and don't pass the sniff test.
i have made a decision that to support the republican party as it is now composed is a vote to give power to groups who i feel are seriously dangerous to our country. is the democratic party much better? no, but punishing the republican party for pandering to a dangerous, ill-informed, and backwards wing of the party is the only option… and the only way that i believe the party will ever change.
it's truly sad that the party that talks a big game of being fiscally conservative has brought us huge budget deficits and huge increases in government spending. continuing down this path is a known hazard. honestly, i would rather have a democratic president (to restrain the religicans) while having a republican congress (to hopefully restrain spending and taxes).
i do get a chuckle about the comparisons to abortion and the death penalty and the answers you get. honestly, i oppose abortion but do not believe draconians laws are the answer in reducing abortions (kind of like the drug war). to me, murder is murder whether someone is “innocent” or not.
as for the name calling and bringing up politics…. ummmm it's a “conservative” commentary, and i really don't think highlighting CON in conservative and the term religicans is that offensive.

justice for all… those rape and incest victims you would force to carry babies to term are in bad circumstances due to their “poor judgement”?
ahhhh, members of the religican party want to force babies to be born because they are “pro-life” (except in cases of war and death penalty) and then cut funding to programs designed to help mothers in “bad circumstances”.

there is a difference between america's leadership and america.
of course, it's easier to call someone a terrorist for writing letters critical to one administration and party, but hey… it's the way politics are in the united states. try to marginilize debate by painting those who oppose you as traitors, terrorists, etc.
patriots question their government… blind patriotism is just mindless.

once again it's easy to see how the religious wing of the republican party has wrapped it's religion around the word “conservative” completely clouding it's true meaning.
the religious “CONservatives” have allowed the republican party to be stolen by big government religious nuts who increase intrusion into citizens private lives with fear tactics about abortion and traditional marriage.
as to the anti-choice minister with a quiver of children… how many “unwanted” children were adopted from people who chose to have babies instead of abortion? my guess, none… because actually doing something to truly give young women in bad circumstances real choices in much harder than the tradition religious CONservatives normal operating procedure… to use an issue as a wedge (all talk, no action).
thank god for:

so dundalk says this:
“Cantstanya…I must concur with your assertion…Very sad!” (too bad cantstaya's anti-mark post was deleted)
and….
“i believe that Mackey's testimony has done great disservice to all his fellow law enforcement officers who take an OATH to protect and serve the citizens of this county.”
and then has the balls to write this:
“it really does sadden me that mackey is taking heat on this”
but she rally's when she says this:
“melinda wiggins is a great lady and you do yourself an injustice by implying that dundalk is her.”
which is the most accurate statement dundalk has ever stated on this forum… because it would be a slur to be called dundalk.
