Check out your local Freecylce group (yahoo group) by going to Freecycle.org. There are people who are often looking for construction materials. Everything is free…. it promotes community and keeping stuff out of our dumps (although, I'm sure a lot of what is being cleaned up belongs there). Steamboat and Moffat County have a Freecycle and if you live in the surrounding areas you may join whichever one you are closer to.

I think that you mean rockie/bounty/kimbo. It looks like kojak has commented on stories in the past that I don't think rockie would bother reading. I could be wrong but I don't think that kojak is related. :)

Rockie that is not true. On the record for May 31 the subject was changed to the report, graduation parties and a a fruitloop cop. Bounty/Rockie then changed the topic to yourself and the people on here who hurt your feelings.

Rockie take a bit of your own advice and quit reading the comments that you don't like or find humorous. (I guess that you will only be left with your comments to read, but you should be happy with that. You state that you could care less, but your words tell a different story….
If you didn't care you wouldn't be responding back and making up “comment supporters”. So calm down and quit speaking for the “people” when you are only one person posing as 3.

granny, sorry you didn't see the humor in my comment. I wasn't looking at being taken seriously.

Yes, Rockie should go, but Bounty should stay. Bounty, you sound so cool and maybe you could host a show one day!

Wow, I am new to the state and did not realize that there wasn't already a full day kindergarten. I did not realize how behind CO was when it come to education, I knew it ranked pretty low in comparison to most states, but wow! My question is, are there going to be scholarships or some kind of money for the parents who believe that their child could benifit from a full day kindergarten but can not afford the (outrageous-crazy!) tuition? Or are the Steamboat PUBLIC schools only offering a better education to kids who have wealthy parents? Also, does one get to chose which public school they send their money and kindergartener to? If I had the money to pay for a full day I would want my money buy great teachers and curriculum and I would feel that I had should have a choice in which school I send my child to.
Let's just hope that I am out of this state by the time my kids are of school age.

On Allison Miriani: We're a dog town (anonymous)

I love dogs….I don't have one, and I agree with people in their observations of dog poop all over town. I was surprised to find that living in a town- home area, tons of people had dogs, no backyard, and BIG dogs. A lot of the owners were great and walked their dogs a few times a day but other just set them free and did not bother to clean up after them. For me, it was disappointing to see so many irresponsible people who should not have even had such large dogs which need larger areas to exercise like a fenced yard, and that they could not even clean up after them. The reason I do not currently have a dog is that I choose to wait until I am really ready to take on the responsibilities that comes with having a dog. I choose not to have one just because it's the “trendy” thing to do. So please, clean up after your dogs!

On If approved by the city, will you shop at the Dollar Tree store in Central Park Plaza? (anonymous)

I have never shopped at a Dollar Tree, but I would if one were to come here. I do not see the problem with a Dollar Store in the area that it is planning to go in to. That area is full of chain businesses already. It does not compete with anything in town except Wal-Mart as far as I can tell. I have spoken with many people who seem to have the same opinion as me, that this Wal-Mart is terrible and does not meet the needs of the people that live here. While I would rather see a Target or something similar come in town I welcome something new that may have more low price items and better service. Variety is great and there is not much of that here. From what I have seen and experienced in the local businesses here, competition is lacking. I would like to see local businesses have to step up their service, quality of goods, cleanliness and have competive prices.
I have lived in small towns my entire life and have had the opportunity to shop wonderful downtowns and chain stores in the same town and they both do well. This town is so caught up in an image that doesn't really exist. It is possible for it to have the small downtown overpriced business and the large chain stores and still be appealing, and meet the needs of the tourist and the person who lives and works here. I'm suprised at how disfunctional this town is and how it continues to let bad decisions be made.
(I also agree with the last comment about the housing issue, however a town full of people overly concerned with making money and image, it is difficult to see anybody addressing the housing issue.)
