Rob Douglas: Does one box trump the other?

Wall supporter (Aspengold), I don't believe we voted for a Sheriff convicted of a criminal act. There is a reason that a recall process has been put in place, and can probably be considered "time honored" as well.

Rob Douglas: Does one box trump the other?

Enough said. Let the recall begin, and the voters will decide what kind of Sheriff we want.

Hot Springs rates on rise

Just logged on to this site after the weekend and was surprised to find that this blog discussion is still ongoing. Leave it to the Steamboat Pilot to stir the pot. As I said before, if you do not like the way OTHS is being run, and are a Life Member, then go to the annual meeting and vote. They will also have the operating budjet availible to review for all those that really want to see where the money goes, as opposed to those who want to make up the story to fit their own agenda.Contrary to all the conspiracy theorists, the meeting has always been held in April with ample notification. Concerning the "locals" who don't like tourists, look around, we are a tourism based economy, and seems to make since that OTHS would offset operating costs thru tourist revenue. Daily admissions did go up in January from $8.50 to $12.00, but lets not let facts get in our way. And for the Rec Center proponents, you might want to look at the rates now being advertised for the city subsidised Golf course, $1,175 for a single adult, spouse "ad on" of $1000. Whoa! Where's the big discussion about these costs.

Hot Springs rates on rise

Lovemysteamboat...Well said. OTHS is a great facility, but for those out there that are unhappy (wrong color on the walls, not the music that you like, new slide is dark inside, no racquetball...ad nauseam), it's actually pretty simple, don't patronize them. If you do not like the present administration; get a membership, go to the annual meetings and vote. Membership dues of less then a dollar a day has been great, but is certainly not conducive to not only maintaining what is already there, but to expect OTHS to improve and expand is plain silly and unrealistic. There are a lot of us who appreciate that the Board is committed to improving OTHS without relying on tax dollars. By the way, been to the pools regularly in the last two weeks and they have been packed, so have to disagree with those of you who have denigrated this latest project. People lined up to ride the new slides, hot tub full(no deaths from aphyxiation), and people enjoying the climbing wall. They have done a great job with this project, and yes it was a huge inconvenience for the members, but at least they were open. What a great thing to have something like this in our little town with out the general population, some of who may not want to use it, having to pay for it. Sounds like the American way.

Let's see, put over 25 years into building a great amenity for this town that has not cost a dime to taxpayers (and has been financially viable) and get personaly attacked. I'm surprised that anyone would want this job. Oh, I forgot, it's the huge salary that Pat Carney gets. Right! I think I will still support the current administration with there proven track record rather then a taxpayer funded facility administered by the city. As far as the pool renovation, seems like it turned out great, and to think that a project of that scope and magnitude was completed in only 8 months is pretty unbelievable. This town should be greatful that we have this facility and a management that has continued to try and improve it without requiring taxpayers to fund it.
