BOCES retains Toothaker as executive director

No addlips2, our half cent tax goes where we voted for: small class sizes = more teachers, resources, computers....
BOCES receives $$ from the feds and the state - not local dollars - for different services they provide from special education, to professional development....
So be assure, this is different game where State and Federal gov is involved, nothing local.

BOCES retains Toothaker as executive director

I agree with Kuri. BOCES board should be ashamed to retain a leadership that has been proven incompetent. Our tax dollars, our stimulus money is going to BOCES bank instead of our kids and some awesome new programs we could have started with hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Feds. I have been advocating for years to bring to Steamboat Applied Behavior Analysis, a costly and scientifically based method to support kids with behavioral issues.... I had dreamed the stimulus money could finally be there for this program.
In 2007, I filed a federal complaint because BOCES was - and is still - incompetent in protecting the rights of our special needs children. The State ruled in my favor, but I didn't expect any apologies from BOCES board and leadership... It never came indeed.
I hope school districts have finally understood they lose a lot contracting with BOCES and hopefully will continue to pull their programs from BOCES.
I missed Monday night meeting, but now I realize that I would have talked to a wall of incompetence, except for Brian and Laura I suppose.
When our school districts will file a waiver like Moffat county did to run their own programs instead of NWBOCES? Let's create a new co-op of services.
Only the public pressure will force changes... Yes we can!?

Hermacinski re-elected to City Council

des mots de tous les jours....

BOCES financials put school districts in a tough spot

Our community should be outraged by what is going on. Everything with BOCES is done quietly, but this time we are talking of Thousands of dollars.
The staff will pay the bill with reduce hours, the kids will pay the hard price by not receiving the right amount of service.... but who cares indeed?
This is more serious stuff than you can imagine.
Jane T should work pro-bono for months or get fired., as well as any other executives of this rotten apple named BOCES.

BOCES financials put school districts in a tough spot

A fed stimulus funding will go to cover BOCES debt instead of serving our kids???? This is unbearable to read.
BOCES should be dissolved for good.
The districts should instead form a co-op and share resources and services.
Accountability has never been BOCES board priority despite all the red flags waived for years by parents and community organizations.
Previous superintendents should have trusted the parents and maybe we would not be in this hole. As usual children will pay the price.
Ashamed on you!
Read 2006 audit, demanded by parents, and see concerns they raised: "Same old" costing close to $1 million today.
At the end of the day who will be held accountable?
No one as usual! I bet you.

Brady Meier died Friday after construction site accident

I met Brady a month ago when he came to my house to help a friend building a deck. He was a very nice man with a very gentle look in his eyes. I am so sorry for Jenny. Jenny, you had a very good man in your life. May you find Peace. Babette.
