Cyclist collides with car, has minor injuries

Dave Fisher is obviously one of our communities cyclists who thinks he owns the road, and that any type of bike/car altercation is always the car drivers fault.
Thanks for the great comment Fred Duckles, you hit the nail right on the head!!!
Have any of our bicycle riders ever noticed that when you pass a motorcycle 99% of them have their headlight on? The reason for this is to help other drivers see them because they realize that their motorcycle is relatively small, and sometimes difficult to see. Maybe it would be wise to make an effort to make yourselves easier to see while on your bicycles.

Police: Stolen Superman recovered

Well now, we can all see where the cops priorities are around here. If they would only put as much effort into enforcing the bicycle laws.

Colorado bicyclists gain new road rules

All this will do is give the cops one more reason to target the ones behind the wheel. All this bicycle stuff is a total crock of poo--when was the last time anyone saw a bicyclist being harassed about breaking the laws??? Take a drive out Twentymile road any day of the week and check out all the moron Tour-De-France wannabes that ride two, three, even four abreast, it absolutely amazes me that more people on bikes aren't killed around here. I have a question, is there something written on the paperwork when you cyclists get those flashy outfits that have "sponsors" names plastered all over them that states the following: When wearing this uniform, you must, under any and all circumstances ride your bicycle in the middle of the road and pretend that you and your fellow cyclists own the road you are peddling on, and to hell with everyone else? That being said, there are some very responsible riders out there that try and do the right thing, but the number of morons highly outweighs the responsible ones. If this county is in such a financial crunch, then why not start writing citations to the cyclists when breaking the law? Thank you for reading my rant, and remember, drive slowly, there may be a bicycle in the middle of the road.

Ski area set to crack down

2strokesmoke said "condom" instead of condone. Funny. I think sickofitall stated it perfectly!

Proposal worries cyclists

The current laws that apply to cyclists are very rarely enforced, so why make new laws? However, if these new laws were enforced it would definately make things safer for everyone involved.

2 cyclists hurt this month

Here's my take on the whole tax issue. It is an absolute ripoff to register a car, truck, rv, etc. in this county/state. Now they are also planning on raising the registration fees, so if we need to treat the bicycles as "slow moving vehicles", and they have the same rights as a vehicle, then why isn't there a state mandated registration process the cyclists have to go through? If we want to use our boats, or ride our ATV's/dirt bikes/UTV's there is a registration sticker that must be purchased. The cyclists should have to buy a license, or other type of registration!!!

Wall found guilty of DWAI

Has anyone ever seen the movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase? The Sheriff in this movie rides around in a taxi cab because he doesn't have a license. Routt County = Funny Farm!!!! Let's not forget that as a community Mr. Wall can be removed from office if we all come together and start the necessary procedures. Routt County is a laughingstock in the law enforcement community.

Cyclists spurned

Cyclists spurned

Why does it matter if they narrow the "bike" lanes, none of the idiots ride on the shoulder anyway. Way too often there will be a pack of Tour De France wannabes riding 2,3,4 abreast and could care less if there are vehicles coming at them or not. What about the high dollar bike path in town? The cops need to start ticketing the cyclists that don't obey the rules, but have you ever seen a bike pulled over by a cop?????
