People like to visit here for it's small town atmosphere-that is slowly going away-same thing happened to Ouray. Growth and development isn't always a good thing

I think it is selfish and inconsiderate to live in a country and not speak the language that is common. I would not expect any other country to do this for me. When I go to another country with a different language, just to visit, I learn as much as I can to make myself understood, these days most places have English as a second language, but actually like you to have at least made an effort to know their language. I don't think it is too much to ask for someone with Spanish as a primary language learn some English to make themselves understood, especially if they are going to live here. And…press one to continue in English? That's the one that really gets me!

Aren't there enough other things in the world to worry about than if someone has a second residence on their own property? Granted, safety should be first and formost if someone allows this on their own property. If it doesn't inconveniece the neighbors (parking, loud parties, animal issues) then it shouldn't be a problem. There is enough government control of our freedoms already.

Anyone who goes to a conference be it a teacher or administrator, gets reimbursed for gas, a stipend is not given for everyday driving. (unless things have changed since I worked there!) And for John to imply that the administrators don't work their butts off for their pay-many of them work the entire year,(that's 12 months like the rest of us) is insulting to them and to himself as a former principal. Duh! Increases in pay were based on market increases not straight across the board if I understand the article correctly.

I agree with mtnwarlock…where does it end? Lots of people from Texas and Florida spend more money here than some residents do…shall we give money to their districts as well? I vote for the tax because I live here and I want the money to go to our kids. Charity begins at home, sorry if that seems selfish, but it is the reason some of us vote for it in the first place.

Mail in balloting doesn't seem very safe-many variables could stop your vote from even showing up. I like the machines, they were easy to use and having the printout seems pretty fail-safe to me. The ketchup business was just plain stupid!!!

It does end up being mostly cheap, taxpayor supported day-care. Little kids are fried after a full day in 1st grade, it is unreasonable to put them into a full day learning environment at 4-5 years of age. If you check into preschool and pre-k programs, most of the learning goes on in the morning, then there is a nap or rest time then free-play afternoons. When most of us were growing up, we didn't interact much with other kids except those in the neighborhood until we were in half-day kindergarten. We managed to socialize just fine and most of us grew up respecting adults. Amazing how that seems to not be the case these days with kids going to preschool from the moment they wake in the morning until what should be close to bedtime. They are getting most of their parenting from caregivers. I know that we have to have jobs to survive, but if you are going to have them, try to spend more quality time at home teaching them to be repectful individuals not technology experts. Yeah, I know, kind of off the subject but I see it too much these days.

This is just shows how important cameras around the schools and on buses could be. Staff cannot be everywhere policing all the time, were your teachers when you were in school? Mine weren't. The parents of the bullies should have been too embarassed by their own child's behavior to even have thought to take this child to court. I would hope that they have a bit of a clue now but I would doubt it.
