Good for Fred Duckels and Mr. Fielding! We have all seen the Lincoln Ave traffic situation evolve over the last thirty years and it continues to get worse. Even if development stopped today, the problems with traffic / pedestrian access will continue to worsen. A bypass is desperately needed. The city council and county commissioners should unite with state and federal legislators and CDOT to get this project moving.
Thanks to Mr. Duckels and Mr. Fielding for speaking out. I hope that those of us that recognize the problems will at the very least attend the meeting and join efforts to find a solution, and SOON!
At this point, we should let the investigators pursue the matter and we should not make assumptions based on the size of a persons truck. I am very confident that Klinger will get it sorted out and the appropriate action, if any, will be taken.
Kathy Connell is a very credible person and not prone to exageration. The comments of Jim Haskens were inappropriate. The results of such remarks will discourage other citizens from making reports that could prevent a tragic outcome. In all cases of potential wildlife conflict, the DOW should respond and investigate without public criticism of the reporting party.
Congratulations to Gordon. He has demonstrated for years his true commitment to the citizens of Hayden. I am confident that he will do a terrific job in his new position.
Our population is aging and we have a responsibility to assist and support the needs of our seniors. It seems that rather than scrapping the whole program, Sheriff Wall could evaluate the time demands and perhaps restructure it to still provide the support but with less demand on his office.
It seems that Sheriff Wall is going out of his way to allienate many of the taxpayers and voters of Routt County. He certainly is not trying to work with the County Commissioners.
I support the take home care program for the sheriff's deputies. However, using the vehicle for out of town personal activities is stretching the concept. When the Undersheriff was in Vernal on personal business, that is not the same as being available for calls.
It seems that Sheriff Wall is not making a sincere effort to work with the commissioners to best serve the taxpayers. Our commissioners have a proven track record of good management and Wall is the new guy. He needs to stop challenging the commissioners at every turn. Wall needs to remember that the voters, taxpayers and citizens of Routt County expect him to work within the system. If policies NEED to be changed, the changes should be acceptable to the commissioners who ultimately pay the cost of such changes.
The publication of the Emails simply confirmed in black and white what so many of us had already witnessed in the distorted motivations of his personality.
Our children were in school when Dr. D was the principle. We had three different incidents where Dr. DeVincentis displayed very poor judgement and ultimately showed his vindictiveness. His decisions would have had long term detrimental effects on our children had we, as parents, not been "on the scene" and paying attention. Dr. D's past and current overt efforts to satisfy his own egotistical goals are not surprising.
YES! It is time for Dr. DeVinsentis to resign and to let our community and school system try to heal.
The fact that an executive session is held is not "secret." The content of the session, by law, can be "secret." It is unfortunate that the news media misuses it's power to make public officials appear to be doing something wrong.
A word to DeVincentis - Pick your battles carefully. Fighting with the newspaper is like fighting with a skunk. You may ultimately win the fight, but the skunk will still stink. And the news media loves to spread the stink - it sells papers!

Deb Babcock: Hemlock: A horticultural horror
Please publish in this paper colored pictures of these two plants. Seems really important, especially to parents of small children.

Do you agree with the newspaper's decision to publish e-mails sent by John DeVincentis in 2004-05?
The publication of the Emails simply confirmed in black and white what so many of us had already witnessed in the distorted motivations of his personality.
A recall is absolutely worth the money!
