One of the best stories I've ever read in the Pilot. I'm sorry for your loss. It's amazing how animals can affect our lives in such a positive way. They love so unconditionally. I've had dogs all my life and each one has been so special to me.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but the memories of each one of my special dogs lives in my heart and mind forever. Play on Buck, for you were a special dog!!

Poor Robin-if you think a sign that says “litter bites” is vulgar and offensive, you really must live in a cave or you've been wrongly sheltered all of your life. I agree, it is a dumb sign; but why write something about it and waste your time? It's not vulgar, it's not offensive, it's just dumb.

Colowoodsman-

FYI, Stagecoach homes are listed with Oak Creek addresses(residents have mailing addresses in Oak Creek, i.e. PO Boxes). The address for the home that burned is listed as Oak Creek, even though it is south of Stagecoach and that's why the Pilot prints that it was an Oak Creek home. Have you ever heard of a home around Stagecoach that has Stagecoach listed as the town/city (i.e. 123 Wenatchi Trail Stagecoach, CO)??????….doesn't happen because Stagecoach is not a town/city.

7:46am Sheriff's Office Deputies helped an elderly woman change a tire

Bravo to the S.O. Deputies. Showing everybody that there is more to law enforcement than just arresting people. You would never see a State Trooper or SSPD Officer helping someone change a tire. When you are in law enforcement, you take an oath to “protect and serve” and the S.O. Deputies obviously adhere to that oath.

I agree that not everybody is against law enforcement. My point is that for many years, the no good loser criminals of Oak Creek have been running around town thinking they can do whatever they want. Now that the laws are actually being enforced, because Linda sure didn't do that, the same criminals are paying the price and crying like little babies about getting arrested (hello, DUI is a crime) or getting ticketed.

I am a big believer that the OCPD needs to learn how to deal with people better, while still enforcing the law. However, if you are out dealing/using drugs, driving drunk, etc. and get caught - too bad. These loser criminals in Oak Creek always place the blame somewhere else and usually it falls on the police. That is typical of those type of low life people. It's time that the drug dealers/users and other low life people get run out of town. Anybody looked at Cargo's “squeaky clean” past lately? How about the board member who harbors drug dealers/users? Where's the town meeting about him? It's a fact that meth users have been caught in his house. What a shame that Oak Creek is still stuck in the same mentality it has been in for years, because it is a great little town.

Hey Oak Creek cry babies. Maybe you should read the article about the Hayden P.D. and see the comments made there by long time residents who appreciate good law enforcement and enjoy seeing something done. The reason why Oak Creek continues to be the butt of Routt County jokes is because you all cry and whine too much when the big bad police man comes and arrests you for committing a crime. Try obeying the law, respecting authority (when it deserves to be respected), and act like adults. If you screw up and get in trouble, take your punishment and move on. Crying about being harassed and picked on by police, like the town of Oak Creek has been doing for years, gets really old and makes the whole town look bad.

After people got done drinking at one of the bars, one of them would ask Linda for a ride home and then the rest of them would drive drunk as soon as she left - that's a fact people. I can't believe that people actually liked that kind of stupidity in their law enforcement.

Sure the OCPD needs to learn how to deal with people in a better fashion while still enforcing the law (chewing someone's butt for rolling a stop sign has no place). On the other hand, at least laws are being enforced in Oak Creek for the first time in a long time. Funny how one of the members of the board is known to harbor drug dealers/users - also a proven fact. Why doesn't anybody hold town meetings about that joke of person. Oh I know, because that's okay in the eyes of some people who live in Oak Creek.

Times are changing Oak Creek and I'm sorry to tell you cry babies that the days of doing whatever the f$#% you want are coming to an end - don't forget to have mommy change your baby diapers.

In typical Oak Creek fashion, the law starts getting enforced (for the first time in a long time, because Linda certainly didn't do anything) and the criminals start whining. It's pretty easy people, if you don't want to live in a town with rules and regulations…move!

Does anybody really believe that it would be different if the Sheriff's Office took over law enforcement in Oak Creek. Sure they may have better people skills than the OCPD, but I am willing to bet that they will not back down to anybody when it comes to making arrests (I hear that they love coming into Oak Creek and arresting the pathetic people that think they're above the law, as well as those who are DUI). I've heard that they are even putting their SWAT team back together. So now instead of the drug dealers/users in Oak Creek having 1 OCPD officer knocking on their door, they will have 7 heavily armed Sheriff's Deputies kicking down their door.

I think the OCPD is doing a fine job. It doesn't take a lot of intelligence to see that the people who are complaining are the minority (some of who are the criminals in this town).

Katrinka-

Par for the course for our judicial system. I'm surprised that the dirtbag didn't get a $1500 bond even with the victim showing up with her eyes swollen shut. There is probably going to have to be videotape evidence of the beating/attempted murder for the judge to sentence this guy to prison….and then he'll say, “There's no videotape of the actual crime? Then I must sentence this dirtbag to probation.”
