Would it be too difficult to ask everyone to compromise? Drivers, don't be dumbasses, and don't be jerks. So the road wasn't every really meant for bikers and drivers. So the bikers could just as easily run or bike elsewhere or use a stationary bike or any number of ideas. Big deal. The fact of the matter is they aren't going to. So as drivers we (yes, I am one of you) can either keep bitching, and subsequently just be angry, because the bikers aren't going to stop biking, or we can adapt. Accept the narrow road, drive carefully, and man the heck up! Bikers: oh my god, chill. Stop riding in packs and ride in lines, at very least when the roads you are on are busy. Don't pass when a car is coming. I get that if you are behind someone who is slower than you are, its natural to want to pass them, and by all means you should. After the car, of whatever size (I myself drive a Geo Metro, for all you posters who are so sure that every person who gets annoyed by bikers must drive a gas-guzzling SUV of astronomic proportions), passes you by. Because really, wouldn't you like to keep enjoying your sport, instead of being injured temporarily or permanently?
The point, for all my off-shoots, I am trying to make, is that the bikers will never have it 100% their way and the drivers will never have it 100% their way, so why not adapt to the changing circumstances and deal with it?
Are we just going to let this get uglier and uglier???
radarrascal--yes, of course they have a virtue program, and yes it is taught, and also yes, it does work. It is really inapproriate for you to question another persons parenting in the way you do, and I am truly offended. There is no reason to name call (are we back in elementary school?). As for a "true family" SCE has that, you just wouldn't know because your kids are in SPE. Yours is a comment meant to hurt, but I am just curious, is it necessary for SCE and SPE to be pitted against each other? I have friends who work and have worked for SPE, and we, like all friends, don't always see eye to eye, but we enjoy each other. Would you really like to cut yourself off from your next good friend, just because they had children in or worked for SCE?
"I remember when an old board refused a grant from one of the education fund boards that would have immidiately helped kids." What was it? How would it have helped? How long ago was this? Which students would it have helped? Just the SPE students or the whole district?
All of this impacts the students. It will impact both elementary schools, students and staff, more than any of us can anticipate. Good Luck, we are all going to need it!
Honey, just remember, you are supporting a man who sees nothing wrong with what he did. If that is how you conduct your life and your childrens lives, then I pity the world you create for yourself. You must really enjoy drama. Me? I really am here for the students. I knew John D personally, and really, he isn't there for you or your children. I just wish you could see it.
Like many of the people posting today, I am terribly ashamed of and disappointed in our School Board. Our school board has been taking the lead by making him or herself rather disagreeable; therefore it is high time that we as a community show them that we will lead ourselves by not making ourselves an angry vicious lot. I have no reservation that John D has a superintendent in mind, and as a community we must band together and find a superintendent that we like and who likes our community. This may not be the way John D likes things run, but that should not be high on the school districts list of priorities. I hope that we will all work to take back our school district and our school board.
