BLM releases report into Craig firefighter death
Findings indicate safety protocols were followed
The Bureau of Land Management released findings of a report Friday afternoon into the June 26 death of BLM firefighter Brett Stearns in Moffat County.
Jury's verdict: Guilty
A jury returned a verdict of guilty against Craig man Terry Hankins about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday morning in Moffat County District Court. Hankins was convicted of first-degree murder, a Class 1 felony, and abuse of a corpse, a Class 2 misdemeanor, in connection with the June 2007 death of his wife, 34-year-old Cynthia Hankins, also of Craig.
Jury selected in Hankins murder trial
After the second day of court proceedings, a jury of 11 men and three women were selected to serve in the murder trial of Terry Hankins.

Firefighters working on a wild fire near Rangely reached 90 percent containment by Saturday night, the Northwest Colorado Fire Management Unit reported.

A Bureau of Land Management firefighter from Craig was killed Friday afternoon in an accident while working on a hazardous-tree removal project at Freeman Reservoir, the BLM office reported in a news release Saturday.
City election set for Tuesday
The 2009 municipal election will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way. Up for election will be four Craig City Council seats and the mayor's seat.
