I think there are way too many oversize vehicles on Lincoln. The vehicles currently on the road are huge!!!

i'm just worried about all the idiot bicyclists who seem to think it is safe for them to ride on highways, with inadequate shoulders, that were built for VEHICLES. yes, they are less than intelligent, but i don't want to see these morons get hit this year. it was bad enough last year. please use a little common sense about where exactly to ride. there are plenty of places to ride besides in the middle of the road. dah.

go to the license bureau and pick up the brochure on how to ride a bike in traffic. i know it is a highway, but the speed limit is only 25mph. they recommend that bikes do take a lane in places where they can go the speed limit like downtown. people on bikes aren't all just out for fun. a lot are commuting to, and shopping at businesses downtown. they need to ride down lincoln sometimes. if gas prices keep going up hopefully we will see more people riding bikes downtown.

thank goodness that the people who built the first buildings in downtown did make such a wide street. look at other places in colorado like estes park. they have little narrow two lane streets and have a ton of visitors to rmnp each day in the summer. things could be a lot worse if we had a narrow street running through the middle of downtown instead of 7 lanes.

what i count 5 lanes wide lane..im wih forreal on this one...you want drivers to share the road but yet bikers seem to think they are entitled can not tell you how many times i come around a blind curve on a county road and see bikers riding four a breast yes i slow down and give you plenty of room when i can but geez louise is your gear that protective..you want respect you give it.not all bikers are at fault but there is a select few in your community that makes you all look bad just like people driving

there are seven lanes downtown. two eastbound lanes, two westbound lanes, two parking lanes, and the turning lane in the middle. that is seven lanes. i thought we were talking about lincoln avenue through downtown, not some county road. now that i look closer, i think forreal is talking about some other road as well.

i don't need a brochure from anywhere. i think common sense will tell you that a bicyclist being hit by a car, even at 25 mph, will be bumming. of course i'm talking about other roads besides lincoln avenue. they're everywhere. all the time. it's scary that the level of common sense is so low. even adults do this. i will say that if it comes between a bicyclist and a head on collision, there'll be one less bicyclist in the world.

how about staying on topic guys. the question is about whether or not lincoln avenue is unsafely narrow. at first i thought you were talking about people riding bikes on lincoln avenue. you two are talking about bikes on other county roads and highways.

Q: what's the connection between bikes on county roads and lincoln avenue being unsafely narrow?

How many of you have been driving downtown and had a big 18-wheeler pass you by when you've been in the left turn lane? They're only a few inches from the side of your car. Make me pretty nervous.

How many of us have given a bicyclist in our "narrow" lane plenty of room on Lincoln Ave just to watch them run right through the red light that we have to stop at! Or the bus driver who thinks he can run you off the road when he pulls out into moving traffic. Maybe we could make downtown Lincoln Ave for pedestrians only! Bypass and one way streets please...............oops. Beat up by the bloggers on the way!

IF PEOPLE WOULD LEARN WHERE THEIR VECHICAL IS AND HOW TO DRIVE IT WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE -- THERE ARE TOO MANY DRIVERS THAT CANNOT STAY INBETWEEN THE LINES. EVERY "HUGE" AUTO WOULD BE FINE IF THEY WOULD ALSO KNOW WHERE THEIR VECHICAL IS ON THE ROAD ----IF YOU NEED TO WIDEN MAIN STREET THEN YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE THE WIDEN EVERY SINGLE HIGHWAY IN THE UNITED STATES.............LEARN TO DRIVE!

the only problem that i've ever experienced downtown is when someone parks their big dually pickup about a foot and a half from the curb. then that same truck has those horse trailer side view mirrors that stick out about another foot and a half into the driving lane. i actually had to stop behind a big red truck this winter that was parked like this. it was either take off the truck's mirror or go out of my lane and hit the car on my left. if you own one of these trucks, you should fold your left mirror in when you parallel park downtown. sorry for picking on the rancher with a parallel parking deficiency, but that is the example that sticks out in my mind. i've seen lots of other cars parked partially in the driving lane. the moral is, if you can't get your car all the way out of the driving lane when parallel parking, then don't park it there. go to one of the side streets where you can park diagonal. otherwise the width of the lanes seems fine to me. i've never felt unsafe on lincoln avenue.

Maybe they could do away with the parking along that street all together. Side parking or behind some of the buildings. That is extremely close when your in the middle of a mad rush. That would even leave room for a few bikes.

what is your problem with bikes? what we really need is more bikes. more bikes means less pollution. people are healthier when they exercise as opposed to just driving their car round all day. by the way, i think you are the one lacking intelligence because of your prejudicial remarks.
