Hayden High School junior Jake Walker, No. 7, tries to stay ahead of a pack of runners Thursday at the state track meet in Lakewood in his preliminary heat of the 100-meter dash. Dolores' Kellen Schuebel, No. 6, eventually passed Walker, but his third-place finish in the heat was enough to earn him a spot in Saturday morning's 100 finals.
