A Toyota Tacoma pickup sits on rocks in the median that separates Steamboat Boulevard near the Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club on Thursday afternoon. Steamboat Springs Police Department Sgt. Rich Brown said the male driver apparently suffered a seizure while at a nearby stop sign and that the truck rolled back into the median. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue paramedics transported the man to Yampa Valley Medical Center. Brown said the man suffered no injuries and likely would be released soon. The truck was removed by Thursday evening.

My mother asked him what he wanted, and he said he wanted to 'have a big party on Saturday and have everyone home.' This photo was taken on that Saturday," Susan McIntosh wrote. Susan is in the second row, third from the right. Her father, Ralph Schumer, is seated in the front row on the right, holding his first grandchild and surrounded by family members. He was diagnosed with cancer Sept. 19, 1980, and died Dec. 3 of that year.

Brad Cusenbary and Katie Lindquist organized the fifth-annual Tour de Steamboat, which helped raise money for the Sunshine Kids program. The program helps children diagnosed with cancer, a cause that struck home this year for Cusenbary and Lindquist. Fire investigators from state and federal agencies sift through the charred remains of the historic State Bridge Lodge in June 2007, searching for clues about the early morning blaze that destroyed the structure June 2 of that year. The Steamboat-based footbag company, World Footbag Association, designs footbags and tries to raise awareness for the sport. Its office in west Steamboat features some of the first footbags ever stitched together. Often times, they were produced with little more than sand and some fabric from the back of a couch. Today, the company builds footbags with more than 100 different panels and packs them with everything from plastic pellets to steel ball bearings.

A footbag net championship takes the right equipment, longtime Steamboat footbaggers Bruce Guettich and Peter Shunny said. The bags can vary greatly in filling and composition, a different one making for an entirely different game. Competitors, meanwhile, buy shoes meant for other sports that have flat sides to allow for more clean hits on the ball.

Members of the Routt County Sheriff's Office and Colorado State Patrol transfer Glen Alan Shaffer from one car to another after he was arrested. Shaffer led officers on a high-speed chase that started at Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue in Steamboat Springs and ended more than 30 miles away in Grand County. Routt County Sheriff's Office Investigator Ken Klinger, who was at the scene in Grand County, said law enforcement officers pursued the truck over Rabbit Ears Pass and into Grand County before it was finally stopped and Shaffer was arrested. Klinger said the man had multiple arrest warrants out of Routt and Moffat counties for domestic violence and was in possession of multiple, loaded firearms at the time of his arrest.

Almost as if a careful gardener planted them, batches of arnicas line the Tepee Creek Trail near Lynx Pass in southeastern Routt County. The yellow flower is abundant on the trail, which takes hikers and bikers four miles into the wilderness over rolling hills to the confluence of the babbling Tepee and the slightly larger Rock Creek. A thick roof of lodgepole pines (some alive, some victims of the beetle infestation) and thick aspen groves cover the majority. Still, plenty of wide meadows split the hike up, offering picture-perfect places to camp.
