A group of tubers heads to the Yampa River from the parking lot near Rotary Park at U.S. Highway 40 and Mount Werner Circle. The city of Steamboat Springs is asking tubers to enter the water downriver from Fetcher Park. The Yampa River Management Plan reserved the portion of the river upstream of Fetcher Park for other uses including fishing, paddling and wildlife viewing.


Taryn and Lorri Benson wrote a book together about Taryn’s eating disorder. The residents of southern Florida live in Steamboat Springs during the summer and are speaking at Off the Beaten Path on Wednesday evening.

Cody McHaffie of Double Dollar Ranch lassos the heels of a cow during the Ranch Rodeo at Howelsen Hill on Sunday night. One of McHaffie’s teammates was required to milk the cow into a beer bottle while avoiding the animal’s lunges with its horns.


The double set of stripes didn’t seem to confuse John Dorman as he rode his bike along Routt County Road 36 on Monday afternoon. The contractor working for Routt County striped the road in the morning, but crews mistakenly striped over the existing 9-foot lines instead of widening the driving lane to 10 feet.
