Purple wildflowers grow on plants near the Gazebo at the Spring Creek Reservoir. The wet spring weather combined with higher daytime temperatures have the hillsides in Steamboat Springs exploding with natural flowers of all kinds.
Friday morning's Fourth of July parade on Lincoln Avenue in Steamboat Springs was plenty warm enough for shorts and tank tops. Reminders of Ski Town USA weren't hard to find, however, and parade-goers were updated about just how long they have to wait before hitting the local slopes again.

A team of cowboys competes in the 2005 ranch rodeo at Howelsen Hill. This year’s event begins at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Brent Romick Rodeo Arena.
