Snow plow operators have been working overtime due to snowfall on 34 of the past 44 days. Last week, crews were working 12-hour shifts to clear the roads.

The Hammie Pull is a punt, pass and kick competition that started in 2004 after an argument about who could kick the longest field goal. Besides Stanford, 2007 participants included, from left, Jim Burrow, Lance Pugh, P.J. Wharton, Gil Ramirez, Jim Miller and Scott Glynn. Miller won the 2004 and 2006 competitions, while Ramirez won in 2005.

At Home photographer John F. Russell shot most of the photos in this issue. John has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Colorado and worked at the Longmont Times-Call during college. He has worked at the Steamboat Pilot & Today since 1990. He said all the At Home pieces in this issue were fun to shoot, but his favorite piece in this edition is the artists' galleries story because he got a chance to get inside some new galleries and visit with local artists.

Writer Tom Ross has enjoyed writing about Steamboat Springs since 1979. Tom graduated from the University of Wisconsin before coming to Steamboat. He has been busy talking to the owners and locals who frequent the Tugboat Grill & Pub, Ski Town USA's local bar for the past 35 years. Tom also got a chance to talk to local food servers about their jobs, including celebrities they've waited on and their biggest tips. He found that he wasn't the only one who suffered from nightmares when he was a server.
