Police Chief Ray Birch works in the offices of the Hayden Police Department at Town Hall in Hayden on Tuesday afternoon. The department is attempting to secure funding for a larger new police station. On Tuesday, the county’s Energy Impact Committee decided to prioritize the South Routt School District’s need for a new heating system over proposals for a new Hayden police station and an expansion of the Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services building.
Brad Bingham crosses the finish line in first place to win the men’s pro/expert division of the Town Challenge Race on Mt. Werner on Wednesday evening.
The Steamboat Springs Little League U-11 All-stars went undefeated and outscored their opponents, 52-3, at the recent District 3 Championships at Emerald Park, earning them a trip as one of four district champs to the state championship July 21 to 23 in Denver. A group of 78 swimmers from Steamboat Springs Team Lightning, the local summer youth swim club, won another meet last weekend in Craig. The team will compete next at the Western Slope Championships from July 20 to 22 in Rangely.
