Teen Battle of the Bands is May 19 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. Bands competing in the event must have a three-song set prepared.
An infestation of grasshoppers is not expected in Routt County during this summer, according to CJ Mucklow, agriculture extension agent for the county.
Rico LaRocca practices kayaking techniques in some small rapids along the Yampa River in downtown Steamboat Springs on Saturday. LaRocca, who was paddling with his friend Bito Mirabito, explained, “We’re from Winter Park, you know, the valley with no water.”
Lottie Turon and Gladys Sullivan reminisce about the silly things they did growing up in and around Oak Creek at Soroco High School on Sunday at one of Oak Creek’s centennial celebrations. Turon and Sullivan have been friends almost their entire lives, and Sullivan’s son married Turon’s daughter.
