Friends of the Yampa volunteer David Moulton helps other volunteers with maintenance on the kayak course on Thursday. More than 20 volunteers spent time adjusting cables for kayak gates, aligning poles and sprucing up the area.

The best time to plant garlic to obtain larger bulbs is now. Use the outer cloves of the garlic bulb, and set them about 1 inch deep into the ground and about 3 inches apart. They will be ready to harvest when the leaves begin to turn yellow, usually in early September.

About 20 members of the Steamboat Clay Artisans brought 10 wheels to Blue Sky Pottery to hand make the 300 bowls that will be used Wednesday at the Soup Bowl Supper.
