Animals graze in a field at the base of Rabbit Ears Pass near U.S. Highway 40. The Routt County Cooperative Extension Office is working with the Department of Agriculture on a voluntary program, asking owners to register their animals to help the department track diseases and chart food production.
Planners of the redevelopment at the base of Steamboat Ski Area are considering installing a roundabout at this intersection leading into Ski Time Square. Routt County United Way held its fundraising kickoff Monday the Routt County Courthouse lawn. Last year, the agency brought in $530,000. This year’s goal is $550,000. Routt County United Way has a list of nearly 40 agencies and programs it supports and helps fund throughout the county.

Snow covers the leaves overlooking Lake Catamount on Rabbit Ears Pass on Saturday. Winter driving conditions existed on the pass during the weekend, and several motorists were pulled over on U.S. Highway 40 because of icy roads, poor visibility and heavy traffic. Multiple accidents were reported Saturday but local agencies reported no serious accidents.
