Steamboat Powdercats photographer and videographer Dave Genchi was paralyzed Dec. 21 during a snowboarding accident on Buffalo Pass. A recovery fund has been set up at Wells Fargo in Genchi’s name.

Emerald City Opera’s New Year’s Eve Gambler’s Ball is Sunday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. The best-dressed lady with elbow-length gloves and a tiara will win two tickets to the Outstanding Artists Recital Series Concert on Feb. 7.
Susan Schiesser deals at last year’s Gambler’s Ball, a fundraiser for Emerald City Opera. This year’s Gambler’s Ball has a Monte Carlo theme, and will feature roulette, craps, blackjack and Texas hold ‘em poker.
“Elk River,” a quilt by David Taylor, is part of the eclectic first exhibit at the Steamboat Art Museum.
This painting was done by Helen Rehder, who will the building — that now houses the Steamboat Art Museum — to the city of Steamboat Springs with a stipulation that it be used as a museum.
