Barbara Dale Masters
1921 - 2007
Former Steamboat Springs resident Barbara Dale Masters joined her family and friends with the Lord on March 3, 2007. She was 85.
Barbara was born Oct. 11, 1921, in LaJunta to Lewis Hunderman and Marjorie Mae Crowley. In 1923, the family moved to Cobrey, Nev., where her father was an agent for SP Railroad. After many childhood moves, she grew up in Steamboat Springs with two brothers and three sisters.
Barbara was married to Harold Dean Dale on April 21, 1939. They raised three daughters in Craig. She lost her beloved first husband May 13, 1961.
She joined her second family with John R. Masters on April 18, 1968. His family consisted of three girls and one boy. They were happily married for 24 years. They resided most of those years in Grand Junction and Palisade. She lost her second beloved husband Aug. 31, 1994.
Barbara loved spending time with family and friends, and was dearly loved for her joyful and giving nature. She will be missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Rex Masters; brother, Jack Tuck; and sister, Sharon Sills.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deanna Trimber, of Clyde, Texas, Sharla and her husband, Rudy Skufca, of Hamilton, and Mary and her husband, Louis Skufca, of Grand Junction; stepchildren, Edith Gregory, Jo Nell Masters and Barbara Jean and her husband, Bobbie Masters, all of Grand Junction; two sisters, Gretchen Johnson, of Palisade, and Betty Bershinsky, of Hartshorne, Okla.; one brother, Grant Bryan, of Palisade; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was held at Snell-McLean Funeral Home on March 7, 2007. Burial service was held March 9, 2007, at Craig Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the First Christian Church of Palisade.
