Council wants demolished site put to use before redevelopment

A development plan for the former site of Ski Time Square was tabled until January on Tuesday, largely because the Steamboat Springs City Council wants to see a plan for igniting the demolished commercial area between now and redevelopment.

Partners seek OK for 14 starter townhomes

Curt Weiss and the Weiss Family Partnership have entered the city planning process with a plan to demolish three older wooden frame buildings and replace them with 14 new townhomes. A 29-year-old Hayden man died today after a compression cap on a water line blew off and struck him. The man was working on a construction project at the base of Mount Werner.

CDOT work to close Third Street at post office

Closure could begin today and last through weekend; vehicle access from Lincoln Avenue

Today's work on U.S. 40 has closed Fourth Street south of Lincoln Avenue, and Fifth Street north and south of Lincoln. A CDOT spokeswoman said a closure of Third Street north of Lincoln could start today and will continue "at least through the weekend." Vehicles can access the post office from the Lincoln Avenue entrance or the Wells Fargo parking lot, and pedestrian access will be available.
