— Officers were working Sunday night to reunite an 18-month-old Routt County boy with his mother after he was reported missing Sunday afternoon.

The boy's mother, who officers did not identify, called 911 late Sunday afternoon to report her son missing from the Steamboat Campground on the west side of town, police Sgt. Gerard Geis said. According to dispatch reports, the mom suspected a family member had taken the child without permission.

Officers located the boy a short time later in Hayden and recovered him without incident, Geis said. Geis confirmed that it was a family member who took the child, but he declined to release any additional details until the investigation is finished. Geis said more information would be available this morning.

Officers were working on taking the mom to Hayden late Sunday evening to reunite her with her son, Geis said. He was not sure whether the incident would result in any arrests.
