Johnson murder retrial begins in Larimer County

Trial starts Thursday after '01 conviction was overturned

Thomas Lee Johnson's defense attorney told a Larimer County jury Thursday morning that her client indeed killed Lori Bases in her Steamboat Springs home in May 2000 but that he did not plan the attack. Johnson was convicted in Bases' stabbing death in 2001, but the Colorado Court of Appeals overturned the conviction in 2006.

Steamboat briefs: Corna death investigation continues; Slopeside to reopen this month

The Port Chester, N.Y., Police Department's investigation into the death of Chris Corna continues, Lt. James Ladeairous said Thursday. Ladeairous said there are no updates on the investigation. Corna, who owned Slopeside Grill in Steamboat Springs, died in Port Chester on May 18. His death was ruled a suicide by the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office.
