Unoccupied North Routt cabin destroyed in fire

No injuries reported in Tuesday morning blaze at Elk River Guest Ranch

A cabin at the Elk River Guest Ranch, built in the early 1900s, burned down Tuesday morning. The cabin was unoccupied and nobody was injured in the fire off Seedhouse Road.

Steamboat Briefs: Registration is under way for Steamboat Triathlon

Registration is under way for the 2009 Steamboat Triathlon, Aug. 30 at Lake Catamount. Offering a sprint distance event, the triathlon takes place entirely in Steamboat Springs. The 3/4-mile swim event is on a point-to-point course in Lake Catamount.

Declining revenue has forced Colorado Mountain College to cut next year's budget and consider increasing tuition. CMC's budget had to be trimmed from $62.6 million this year to $61.2 million for the 2009-10 school year.
