— A Steamboat Springs man sustained serious injuries after he was ejected in a one-vehicle crash on Routt County Road 129 on Saturday night.

Britt Jones, 43, apparently lost control of his Ford F-150 on rain-slicked C.R. 129 at about 6:30 p.m., colliding with two trees near Cullens Corner before rolling his pickup, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

"He was coming out of a corner, and the vehicle started rotating counterclockwise," Trooper Brett Hilling said. "It was the right rear of the truck that hit the (first) tree, snapped it clean off."

Jones was ejected from the vehicle, which came to rest partially on him. He was conscious and speaking with rescue personnel at the scene. The extent of his injuries was unclear, Hilling said.

It was also unclear how fast Jones was traveling when he lost control. The accident occurred on a 45 mph stretch of road, and alcohol is expected to be a factor in the crash, along with the weather, Hilling said.

Jones was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center by an ambulance crew from Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue. The Routt County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.

C.R. 129 was closed to traffic in both directions for about 20 minutes after the crash. Cars were then able to use one lane for traffic until the scene was cleared.
