Foul play not suspected in Old Town death
Steamboat Springs An unidentified man died in a shooting incident shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday in downtown Steamboat Springs. Steamboat Springs police, Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue and Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg responded to the incident in the backyard of a residence at 153 Logan Ave. Steamboat Springs Police Capt. Joel Rae said no criminal activity is suspected but would not provide additional information about the shooting.
Carpenter’s Ball set for Saturday night
The Carpenter’s Ball to benefit Routt County Habitat for Humanity begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. Dinner is at 7 p.m., followed by dancing. The event also includes a silent auction. Individual tickets cost $65. A corporate table that seats 10 costs $900.
Since 1999, Routt County Habitat for Humanity has built five energy efficient, affordable homes and renovated 22 apartments and one home, providing 28 affordable housing opportunities for low-income families in Routt County.

Little league spring training begins Monday
Spring training for Steamboat Little League Baseball begins Monday. League sign-up forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office on Howelsen Parkway. A late fee of $25 will be applied for registration forms. Children ages 8 to 15 are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
League play begins with spring training Monday and ends with the City Tournament on Aug. 2. Call Stace Toye at 291-9050.
