Mainstreet to explore generation gap

— Mainstreet Steamboat’s Economic Restructuring Committee is hosting a workshop, “Gen X/Y Employees: Understanding Generational Differences,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Steamboat Smokehouse. Karen Goedert of Columbine Consulting, who has more than 15 years of experience in the seasonal resort service industry and in employee relations, is the featured speaker. Goedert runs a Web site called “Resort Recruiters,” which offers headhunting services, advertising opportunities, interview assistance, background screens and match-making assistance. The cost is $20 for Mainstreet members and $30 for non-members. Lunch is included. Call Tracy Barnett at 846-1800 to reserve a space.

Coed softball deadline extended to May 19

The city of Steamboat Springs’ Recreation Division has extended the registration deadline until Monday for teams wishing to play in the coed adult softball D Division. Call Kit Rice at 879-4300 with questions.

Town Challenge Bike Race Series volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed for the 18th annual Steamboat Town Challenge Mountain Bike Race Series. Races are scheduled for alternating Wednesdays throughout the summer. Any volunteer who can work a minimum of six races will receive gifts including an event T-shirt. Call 879-4300 for details.

Volunteers needed at Humble Ranch

Now is a great time to join the dedicated team of volunteers at Humble Ranch Education and Therapy Center as a side walker or horse leader for the Equine Therapy programs. The programs are scheduled for June 16 through Aug. 21 for two to three hours a week. Volunteer training program dates are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday or 4 to 8 p.m. June 3.
