22-year-old man fell into tree well

A 22-year-old Massachusetts man died Friday afternoon after falling headfirst into a tree well at the Steamboat Ski Area. It was the second snow-immersion death at the ski area in 10 days.

Last year, the Steamboat Springs High School hockey team learned the hard way about peaking too early. The Sailors downed the eventual state champion, Aspen Skiers, in December 2006 only to collapse down the final stretch of crucial Peak Conference games two months later.
