Trace Musgrave resigns from Hayden Town Board

Trace Musgrave resigned from the Hayden Town Board this week, Town Manager Russ Martin said Thursday.

The board is scheduled to formally accept the resignation at its meeting Dec. 11 and will seek an interim replacement for Musgrave, Martin said.

Musgrave moved to Arizona for job reasons, Martin said. He worked for Connell Resources and then TCD before going to another company, Martin said. Musgrave’s family initially stayed in Hayden while Musgrave worked in Arizona.

Musgrave was appointed to the board in January. He filled a vacancy created when Trustee Ken Gibbon moved to replace Joseph Schminkey as mayor.

Musgrave was elected to the seat in April. His replacement will serve out his term, which runs until April 2010, Martin said.

Buffalo Pass users must pick up free access permit

The U.S. Forest Service is reminding winter sports enthusiasts to have all the proper credentials before visiting one of Routt County’s most popular backcountry destinations.

Those recreating at Buffalo Pass, a popular area for snowmobiling and skiing, need to pick up a free permit to access the area. Daily-use and annual passes can be picked up at Forest Service offices in Steamboat Springs, Walden and Kremmling, or from un-manned permit stands at trailheads leading into the permit area.
