Lotto ticket sold at 7-Eleven hits big

— Two Powerball tickets sold in Colorado matched the first five numbers Saturday to win the game's second prize of $200,000 each, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

The Colorado Lottery reported the tickets were sold at the 7-Eleven at U.S. Highway 40 and Routt County Road 129 in Steamboat Springs and a King Soopers on Littleton Boulevard in Littleton, according to the AP.

Saturday's winning numbers were 5, 34, 40, 43 and 52. The Powerball was 20 and the multiplier was 5.

Volunteers needed for Ducks Unlimited banquet

The local chapter of Ducks Unlimited is seeking volunteers for its banquet and silent auction on Sept. 5 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. If you would like to help with the banquet or have questions, call Ron & Kathy Whaley at 870-9947.

County to close C.R. 51B through September

Routt County Road 51B from Routt County Road 27 west to Xcel's Hayden Station will be closed to all vehicle traffic from Wednesday through Sept. 30, 2008, for a realignment. C.R. 51B can be accessed on the west side from C.R. 51. Call the Routt County Road and Bridge Department at 879-0831 for information.

Spots open in youth football program

The city of Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department is accepting registrations for its youth football program on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is for third- to sixth-grade youth and runs from late August through mid-October. Youths entering third and fourth grade play flag football, while those in fifth and sixth grade play tackle. The flag program costs $55 and tackle costs $75. Stop by the parks and recreation office to complete a registration form or call 879-4300 with questions.

Human Services hosting school supply, food drives

The Routt County Department of Human Services is having a school supply drive for the month of August, in honor of national Child Support Month. Take donations to the Department of Human Services at 135 Sixth St. in downtown Steamboat Springs.

The department also is sponsoring a food drive and collecting nonperishable items and toiletries its office or any other county government office. All items that are collected will be given to the LIFT-UP of Routt County food bank. The food drive ends Aug. 27.
