Tracy Bye rehabilitates animals at Born Free
First-graders lucky enough to have Tracy Bye as a teacher at Soda Creek Elementary School got to learn about Hayden the bald eagle this winter. Hayden was hit by a car while eating a rabbit. Bye helped the first-graders understand units of measurement by discussing Hayden's weight and his wingspan - 11.5 pounds and 6 feet, respectively.

Winging his way across our springtime sky is a delightful little constellation named Corvus, the Crow. The four main stars of Corvus form an unmistakable kite-shaped pattern about one-third of the way up in the southeastern sky at 9 p.m. in mid-April. Perhaps the easiest way to find Corvus is to use the old adage "follow the arc to Arcturus, spike on to Spica, and continue to Corvus." The seven stars of the Big Dipper are easy to spot high overhead. Just follow the curve or "arc" of the Big Dipper's handle around to the bright orange star Arcturus, then keep going until you arrive at the bright blue star Spica, and continue on until you spot the kite-shaped pattern of Corvus.
