Mrs. Robin arrived today, April 8, 2008, at our home on Routt County Road 33. She has been in the Southern states for the winter and looked somewhat tired from her long journey to get back here. She is quite tame and let me get real close to her before she would hop off a few feet at a time.

Mary Kay Monger: Defending the beef industry
Defending the beef industry is the responsibility of every beef producer. We, as beef producers, also have a valuable resource available to us through the check-off dollars that we pay each time a beef animal is sold. Those dollars are providing our advertising and have monitored and helped correct the negative publicity we have been getting.
Jimmy Westlake: Counting Crow
Winging his way across our springtime sky is a delightful little constellation named Corvus, the Crow. The four main stars of Corvus form an unmistakable kite-shaped pattern about one-third of the way up in the southeastern sky at 9 p.m. in mid-April. Perhaps the easiest way to find Corvus is to use the old adage "follow the arc to Arcturus, spike on to Spica, and continue to Corvus." The seven stars of the Big Dipper are easy to spot high overhead. Just follow the curve or "arc" of the Big Dipper's handle around to the bright orange star Arcturus, then keep going until you arrive at the bright blue star Spica, and continue on until you spot the kite-shaped pattern of Corvus.

Conservative commentary: Go Vols!
As anyone who has known me for more than five minutes can attest, I am a lifelong Oklahoma Sooners fan. Nevertheless, I must congratulate Pat Summitt and the Tennessee Volunteers women's basketball team on their second consecutive national championship. This was the program's eighth national championship, having played in a total of 13 national championship games. This is all the more impressive when you consider that there have only been a total of 26 national championship games in the history of women's college basketball.

Dog-gone ski town
Steamboat produces distinct breed
Sometimes a dog isn't just a dog. In a town with easy access to open spaces, the furry quadrupeds can become an extension of their owners. And not just the kind that's allowed to mount up on the tailgate every so often. Steamboat is a town for dogs that get to ride along in the front seat.

A brand new tune
The Internet makes musical exploration an easy trip
It's easy to get into a musical funk. No, not funk music such as James Brown or George Clinton, but rather listening to the same old scratched CD again and again, playing out the battery on your MP3 player or getting only one radio station in your car. It can be a frustrating existence listening to nothing but the same kind of music.
