Steamboat Springs Police Officer Garrett Wiggins cruised to an easy win in Tuesday's Republican primary for Routt County sheriff, beating Sgt. Ray Birch of the Sheriff's Office. Wiggins garnered 714 votes or 63 percent of the vote. Birch totaled 426 votes or 37 percent.

9:06 p.m. A man in the 1400 block of Flattop Circle reported his nephew kicking and denting his car because the men had been in an argument. The man did not want to press charges; he just wanted his nephew to stop kicking his car. Officers arrested the nephew Tuesday morning on suspicion of false reporting, possessing a Schedule II controlled substance and other charges.
