Tourists pack Steamboat

About 14,300 guests expected to arrive for New Year's Eve

About 13,700 tourists are expected to be staying in Steamboat Springs today, the same number as the corresponding Saturday last year, according to the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association's lodging barometer.

No parking at Gondola in January

Access to the Steamboat Ski Area will be a little trickier than usual during January.

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club has established a fund to help Chris Stillwell at Community First National Bank. Stillwell, a Steamboat resident and Rotary Club member, is in a coma in the Denver Health Medical Center intensive care unit after suffering a closed-head injury. Donations can be made to the Chris Stillwell Fund, either in person at the bank or through the mail at Chris Stillwell Fund, P.O. Box 772948, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.

Despite after-Christmas scare, food bank 'looking good'

LIFT-UP President Kathy Conlon got a momentary scare when she checked the stock on the Steamboat Springs food bank's shelves the day after Christmas. After an initial inspection, she declared it was a "grim situation" and the food supply had run nearly dry.

Horizons funding could increase

An additional $50,000 in federal funds could help Horizons Specialized Services increase compensation for employees but would leave the program's budget about $25,000 short.

Inbound flights full or overbooked

Holiday vacationers will be streaming into Steamboat Springs on full airplanes this weekend.
